DRJ inclusion in Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ)

2025-04-04

The Davao Research Journal (DRJ) has achieved another significant milestone by being recognized and indexed in the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ).

The Journal Publication Unit of the University proudly celebrates this breakthrough, as DRJ—the University’s official research publication platform—has now been officially included in the DOAJ. Earlier this year, the journal also gained inclusion in the prestigious CABI abstracts, which covers agricultural and environmental science-related articles.

DRJ is an international, open-access, multidisciplinary, peer-reviewed journal that leads in the timely publication of research findings relevant to both the nation and the ASEAN region. All published articles have now qualified for full inclusion in the DOAJ database. The journal’s transformation over the past two years into a fully online and open-access platform has ensured continuous access to knowledge and enhanced dissemination of its content to a wide range of stakeholders—enabling rapid publication and better tracking of its impact.

"The inclusion of the journal in the DOAJ database ensures visibility, accessibility, and increases our chances of being indexed in other international databases," said Assoc. Prof. Edison D. Macusi, DRJ Editor-in-Chief and Head of the University’s Publication Unit.

Initially rejected three times, DRJ’s eventual acceptance is a testament to its commitment to improving the quality of its published articles and consistently upholding rigorous peer-review standards over the past two years. This achievement would not have been possible without the dedicated efforts of its two Managing Editors, Ms. Hanelen T. Pislan and Ms. Ivy M. Nallos, as well as the support of the Editorial Board.

Looking ahead, the journal is setting its sights on inclusion in the Web of Science index and remains dedicated to publishing high-quality research articles on par with leading international research publications in the region.
